Q: How long is this necklace and where does it sit when worn?
A: The total length is approximately 90 cm (perimeter), which is typically considered an opera length. On most wearers it sits around the mid‑chest. As a guide, the drop when worn as a single strand is about 45 cm. Fit varies by neck and frame, so please refer to the measurements and photos on this page.

Q: Is this solid silver?
A: No. It is described as silver‑tone metal. Dior fashion jewellery is commonly made from plated base metals (often brass) with a palladium, rhodium or gold‑tone finish rather than solid precious metal. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, this is not sterling silver.

Q: Can I double‑wrap it for a layered look?
A: Many wearers can double an opera‑length necklace. At around 90 cm, it often wraps into two shorter layers (approximately 45 cm each), depending on your neck size and the clasp style. Always avoid tension when doubling and check the clasp is comfortably positioned.

Q: How should I care for the plating?
A: After each wear, gently wipe the necklace with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth. Avoid water, perfume, lotions, hairspray and household cleaners, as these can dull or wear the plated finish. Store it individually in a soft pouch, away from humidity and direct sunlight.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower or while swimming?
A: We don’t recommend it. Prolonged contact with water, chlorine or salt can accelerate wear to plated finishes and cause discolouration. Put jewellery on last and remove it before bathing, exercising or swimming.

Q: Are the charms removable?
A: This design features multiple charms (CD logo disc, star and cat). On most Dior fashion necklaces, charms are fixed to the chain and not intended to be removed. If a charm is attached via a small clasp it may be detachable, but please review the photos or contact us and we can check specific details for you.

Q: How do you authenticate this Dior necklace?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is carefully authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of construction, weight, plating quality and stamps. Dior hallmarks vary by era (for example, Chr. Dior on some earlier pieces and Christian Dior with a copyright symbol and sometimes a year on later pieces), commonly found on the clasp or a small tag. Additional photos of signatures can be provided on request.

Q: What is included with the purchase?
A: Everything included is listed under product information on this page. For this listing, no additional items are included.

Q: What is the condition like in person?
A: It is in very good vintage condition. The metal is shiny with light scratches to the hardware consistent with gentle wear. Please review the close‑up images for the most accurate view of condition.
