Q: Are the pearls real?
A: No. This necklace is described with faux pearl detailing, which means it uses imitation pearls rather than natural pearls. That is typical of Dior fashion jewellery and part of the vintage costume-jewellery look.

Q: How does this necklace fasten?
A: It closes with a lobster clasp, which is secure and easy to use. As with any vintage piece, it is best to open and close the clasp gently to help preserve the finish.

Q: What is the fit like?
A: The listing gives a necklace perimeter of 22. The easiest way to judge the drop is to compare that measurement with a necklace you already wear, as vintage strands can sit differently depending on neck size and styling preference.

Q: What condition is this necklace in?
A: It is listed in very good vintage condition, with light traces of use. The silver-tone hardware is described as shiny with light scratches, which is consistent with careful prior wear.

Q: Will the silver-tone finish tarnish over time?
A: Like most fashion jewellery, silver-tone plating can show wear over time, especially if exposed to moisture, perfume, lotions or improper storage. Gentle handling and dry storage will help it stay looking its best for longer.

Q: How should I care for the faux pearls?
A: Wipe the necklace gently with a soft dry cloth after wear and store it separately in a dry place. Avoid water, perfume, hairspray, body lotions and harsh cleaning products, as these can dull the metal finish and damage pearl coatings.

Q: Can I wear it every day?
A: Yes, but it is best treated as a vintage statement piece rather than hard-wearing daily jewellery. Remove it before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping, and avoid rubbing it against rough knits, heavy beading or freshly dyed dark fabrics.

Q: How do you authenticate vintage Dior necklaces?
A: Vintage Dior necklaces are usually checked for hallmarks or signature plaques near the clasp, along with overall construction, weight, finish and craftsmanship. A Retro Tale authenticates every item before it is offered for sale.

Q: Does it come with any original extras?
A: No additional extras are listed with this piece. If anything is included, it will always be stated in the product information on the page.
