Q: What hairstyles does this Hermès hair clip suit best?
A: With an approximate width of 12 cm and height of 1.5 cm, it works beautifully for low ponytails, half‑up styles and French pleats. The larger width offers a secure hold for medium to thick hair. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Will it hold thick or very thick hair?
A: A 10–12 cm French barrette is typically recommended for thick to very thick hair. For very dense hair, gather the hair firmly and consider securing with a discreet elastic first, then fasten the clip over it for extra grip.

Q: How do I open and close the clasp without stressing the silk?
A: Press the two metal pads at the back to open, slide the lower arm under your gathered hair, then close until it clicks. Avoid forcing the mechanism; if there’s too much hair in the clasp, release and take a slightly smaller section to protect the fabric and hardware.

Q: What materials is this piece made from?
A: The clip combines multicoloured patterned silk fabric with silver‑tone metal hardware and a clip closure. As a vintage piece, slight variations in finish are normal and part of its charm.

Q: How should I care for the silk and hardware?
A: Keep away from water, humidity, hair spray and perfume. Wipe metal parts with a soft, dry cloth after wear. Do not immerse the silk; if needed, gently blot with a clean, dry cloth and consult a professional cleaner experienced with silk textiles. Store in its dust bag, away from direct sunlight and heat.

Q: Can I wear it in the rain, at the gym or in a pool?
A: It’s best to remove the clip before sport, swimming or exposure to high humidity. Moisture and chemicals can dull the hardware and mark the silk.

Q: Is this a vintage item and what is the condition?
A: Yes, this is a vintage Hermès hair clip. Condition is noted as Very Good with light traces of use; the hardware is shiny with light scratches. Please review the Condition notes and images for full details.
