Q: What can the Sac Plat typically hold?
A: With approximate measurements of 38 × 35 × 9 cm, it comfortably fits A4 documents, a notebook or diary, a tablet, and most 13–14 inch laptops in a slim sleeve. Some slimmer 15 inch laptops may also fit, but please compare your device’s measurements to the bag’s dimensions for certainty.

Q: Does this Sac Plat come with a shoulder strap?
A: No. This classic Sac Plat is a handheld tote with dual rolled top handles. The handle drop is about 10 cm, ideal for hand or crook-of-arm carry.

Q: How secure is the open top for daily use?
A: The design is an open tote with interior pockets for smaller items. For added organisation and privacy, many owners use a zipped pouch or a slim bag organiser inside. Keep valuables in the interior pockets and avoid overfilling to maintain the clean silhouette.

Q: Is the Damier Ebene canvas water-resistant?
A: Louis Vuitton’s coated canvas is hard-wearing and resists light rain. Wipe moisture off promptly and keep the leather trim as dry as possible. Clean the canvas with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water only; avoid home remedies and chemicals. Store away from heat and sunlight to preserve colour and shape.

Q: What does the date code MI1003 mean on this piece?
A: MI indicates manufacture in France. For this four-digit format used in the early 2000s, the first and third digits show the month and the second and fourth show the year, so MI1003 corresponds to October 2003.

Q: Is this style suitable for work and commuting?
A: Yes. The structured, flat profile and wide opening make it excellent for documents, a laptop in a sleeve, and daily essentials. It’s a timeless, unisex design that pairs well with both smart and casual wardrobes.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information on this page. For this specific piece, no extras are included unless stated there.

Q: How should I care for the bag to keep it in Very Good condition?
A: Wipe the coated canvas occasionally with a damp cloth. Avoid alcohol-based products, oils, and harsh cleaners on both canvas and leather. Do not overpack; store upright, lightly stuffed, in a breathable dust bag in a cool, dry place. Rotate use and minimise rubbing against abrasive surfaces to reduce scuffs on corners and handles.

Q: Does the Sac Plat stand upright on its own?
A: The Sac Plat has a structured build and generally stands when lightly filled. Using a base insert or organiser can help maintain structure and keep the interior tidy over time.

Q: How do you authenticate this bag?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes multi-point inspection by our in-house specialists, checking materials, stitching, hardware, heat stamps, and date codes in context. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further details on request.
