Q: What typically fits in the West End MM for a weekend away?
A: With approximate measurements of 44 × 35 × 18.5 cm, it comfortably holds a 15-inch laptop, A4 documents, a change of clothes, trainers, a toiletry bag, and travel essentials. Capacity will vary depending on how you pack, so please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Is this bag cabin friendly as carry-on luggage?
A: Its dimensions fall within the cabin size limits used by many airlines (often around 55 × 40 × 23 cm). Policies vary by airline and aircraft, so we recommend checking your carrier’s current guidelines before travelling.

Q: Is the West End model still available in Louis Vuitton boutiques?
A: The West End in Damier Ebene is a vintage model and is not part of Louis Vuitton’s current collection. It is typically sourced through reputable resale platforms and specialist vintage retailers.

Q: What does the date code SP0967 mean on this piece?
A: SP indicates a French workshop. For items from 1990–2006, the first and third digits show the month and the second and fourth the year, so 0967 decodes to June 1997, made in France.

Q: Does the West End have protective feet at the base?
A: Yes, West End models typically feature metal feet to help the bag stand and to minimise wear on the base during travel and daily use.

Q: Can the strap be worn on the shoulder or crossbody?
A: Yes. The West End includes a detachable, adjustable strap that suits shoulder or crossbody wear for many heights. On similar authenticated listings, the strap drop is around 50 cm, providing comfortable hands‑free carry.

Q: How does Damier Ebene hold up in wet weather compared to Monogram with vachetta?
A: Damier Ebene is a coated canvas that is water‑resistant and very durable. Its dark brown leather trim is treated, making it more resilient to water marks than natural vachetta found on many Monogram pieces. Still, avoid heavy rain and wipe splashes promptly.

Q: How should I care for this vintage coated canvas and leather trim?
A: Wipe the canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth; avoid alcohol‑based products, harsh chemicals, and abrasive scrubbing. Buff hardware gently with a microfibre cloth. Store the bag loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag, away from direct sunlight and heat, to help it retain its shape.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Please refer to the product information on this page. For this listing, a detachable shoulder strap and a luggage tag are included. If an item isn’t listed there (for example, a dust bag or padlock), it is not included.

Q: Can Louis Vuitton replace or service parts like the strap on a vintage bag?
A: Louis Vuitton offers repair services, subject to assessment and parts availability. Costs and eligibility vary by item and region. You can request a repair online or through a boutique; a Care Expert will provide an estimate before any work proceeds.
