Q: What is this necklace made of?
A: It is crafted in sterling silver (92.5% silver) from Tiffany & Co., known for its high‑quality silver jewellery and classic bow motif.

Q: What are the pendant dimensions and chain details?
A: The ribbon bow pendant measures approximately 1.5 × 1.5 cm and is about 0.2 cm deep. It hangs from a fine link chain and secures with a spring ring clasp. Chain length can vary by edition and era; please refer to the Measurements and product information on this page for exact details.

Q: Does sterling silver tarnish over time?
A: Yes. Tarnish is a natural surface reaction that can occur when silver is exposed to air, moisture and products containing sulphur (such as rubber bands, some papers and certain cosmetics). Regular wear and proper storage help minimise tarnish.

Q: How should I clean and care for it at home?
A: Use a mild soap solution and warm water, rinse well and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. A quality silver‑polishing cloth can remove light tarnish. Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, toothpaste, abrasive cloths and prolonged contact with chlorinated water. Store it clean, completely dry and individually in a soft, anti‑tarnish pouch.

Q: Is the chain adjustable or replaceable?
A: Many pendant chains can be shortened by a professional jeweller, and a small extender can add a little length without altering the original chain. Significant alterations may affect hallmarks and potential resale value, so we recommend using an extender rather than cutting the chain.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect to see?
A: Authentic Tiffany sterling silver pieces typically carry clear, precise stamps such as “TIFFANY & CO.” and a silver purity mark like “925”. The exact placement and wording can vary by era and country of manufacture, and chains may carry their own marks.

Q: Is sterling silver suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Sterling silver is usually alloyed with copper and is well tolerated by most wearers. However, individual sensitivities vary; if you have known metal allergies, we recommend a brief wear test and consulting a jeweller for advice.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything supplied is listed under product information. This piece is currently listed without extras such as a box or pouch; if an item isn’t shown there, it isn’t included.

Q: What is the condition of this vintage piece?
A: Very good vintage condition with light traces of use; the silver remains shiny with light surface scratches consistent with careful wear. Our photography aims to show the condition accurately—please review the images for close‑ups.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this item?
A: Every piece is vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of metal composition, construction, hallmarks and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide further details on request.
