Q: What is the length and how will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace measures approximately 52 cm (about 20.5 in). On most people, this length sits just below the collarbone and works well for everyday wear or layering. For the best idea of placement, cut a piece of string to 52 cm and try it on to see where it falls on you.

Q: What metal is it made from and what does 925 mean?
A: It is crafted in sterling silver, an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals for strength. The 925 mark denotes this sterling standard, which Tiffany helped establish as the benchmark in 1851.

Q: Will sterling silver tarnish and how can I minimise it?
A: Yes, sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time, especially with exposure to air, humidity, sulphur, chlorine and household chemicals. Wearing your silver regularly actually helps slow tarnish. Store it dry, ideally in an anti-tarnish pouch or lined box, and keep it away from rubber and strong chemicals.

Q: How should I clean and care for this necklace at home?
A: Gently rub with a soft polishing cloth. For heavier tarnish, use a small amount of a reputable silver jewellery cleaner on a soft cloth, then rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly. Avoid bleach, chlorine and abrasive cleaners, and take care not to over-polish any intentionally oxidised details.

Q: Can I shower or swim while wearing it?
A: It’s best to remove sterling silver before showering, swimming or using hot tubs. Water itself isn’t harmful, but chlorine, salts and soaps can accelerate tarnish. If the necklace gets wet, dry it completely before storing.

Q: Is the length adjustable?
A: The chain is not designed to be adjustable, though a professional jeweller can usually shorten a chain; lengthening typically requires adding matching links. Tiffany offers cleaning, repairs and fit alterations for a fee—check locally if you wish to explore this.

Q: Where are the hallmarks and what should I expect to see?
A: Tiffany silver pieces typically carry clear, crisp hallmarks such as “Tiffany & Co.” and “925”. On necklaces, these are often found on or near the clasp, sometimes on a small attached tag. Hallmark style and placement can vary by collection, market and era, and older pieces may show light wear to stamps.

Q: Is this suitable for daily wear?
A: Yes—sterling silver is durable for regular wear. Fasten the spring ring clasp securely and avoid contact with chemicals or perfumes. Periodic cleaning and proper storage will keep it looking its best.

Q: Can I add a pendant to this chain?
A: Many pendants can be added if the pendant’s bail opening is large enough to pass over the oval links. Check the bail size against the chain before fitting, or consult a jeweller for guidance.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: This listing is for the necklace only; no accessories are included unless explicitly stated under Accessories on this page.
