Q: Is the Cartier Tank Française Ref. 2384 a quartz or mechanical watch?
A: Ref. 2384 is generally associated with a quartz movement, so it is battery-powered rather than automatic or hand-wound. This makes it convenient for daily wear and straightforward timekeeping.

Q: What size is this watch, and how does 20 mm wear on the wrist?
A: The case diameter is listed as 20 mm. Because the Tank Française has a rectangular case and integrated bracelet, it wears elegant and slightly longer on the wrist than a round watch of the same width, giving a refined, jewellery-like look.

Q: Will this watch fit my wrist?
A: The bracelet is listed as fitting a wrist of about 16 cm or smaller. If your wrist is larger, you may need additional links, which are not listed in the product information for this piece.

Q: Can the bracelet be resized?
A: Yes, the steel bracelet can normally be adjusted by removing or adding links. A watchmaker or Cartier service point can help achieve the best fit, but because no spare links are listed in the product information, sourcing extra links may be necessary for a larger wrist.

Q: Does it come with box, papers, or spare links?
A: No original box, papers, or extra links are listed in the product information for this watch. Please rely on the product information section for exactly what is included with the purchase.

Q: What condition is this watch in?
A: It is listed in very good overall, external, and internal condition. The hardware notes mention scratches on the case and bracelet, which is consistent with careful pre-owned wear and worth reviewing in the photos before purchase.

Q: Is the Tank Française water resistant?
A: Tank Française models are typically everyday dress watches rather than swim watches. Many steel quartz Tank Française models are rated around 3 bar when new, but for a pre-owned watch from circa 2008 it is safest to avoid swimming, showering, or prolonged water exposure unless it has been freshly pressure-tested.

Q: How often will it need a battery change or service?
A: Quartz Cartier watches typically need a battery change every few years. Cartier advises professional battery replacement and periodic servicing, so it is best to have the watch checked by Cartier or an authorised watchmaker if it has been sitting unworn or if timekeeping becomes irregular.

Q: How do you authenticate this watch?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is vetted for authenticity before sale. For added peace of mind, this listing includes both the Cartier reference number 2384 and serial number 439178CD in the product information.
