Q: Is this Chanel Heart Pin Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What materials is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: This brooch is a piece of Chanel costume jewellery, crafted from gold‑tone plated metal with black enamel detailing. It is not solid gold. The design features the iconic CC logo and 'Coco' script. Please review the close‑up photos to appreciate the finish and enamel work.

Q: What are the measurements and how big is it?
A: The brooch measures approximately 3 cm (height) x 3 cm (width). This petite size makes it a versatile accent for lapels, collars, or hats without being overpowering. If you need a photo for scale or precise gram weight, please contact us.

Q: How does it fasten?
A: It secures with a standard pin closure on the back. This mechanism is designed to be secure for wearing on coats, jackets, and heavier fabrics. We recommend testing it on delicate fabrics like silk to avoid pinholes.

Q: What hallmarks should I look for?
A: Authentic Chanel costume jewellery typically features an oval hallmark plaque on the reverse side, stamped with the CHANEL logo, a date/season code (e.g., a year and collection letter), and the country of origin (usually France or Italy). Our listing photos show the specific hallmarks present on this piece.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
A: As with most vintage and costume jewellery, the base metal alloy may contain nickel. If you have metal sensitivities, we recommend wearing it on top of clothing rather than directly against the skin, or using a clear barrier product on the back.

Q: How should I care for the enamel and gold‑tone finish?
A: To preserve the glossy enamel and gold plating, keep the brooch dry and away from perfume, hairspray, and lotions. Clean it gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth after use. Store it in its box to prevent the enamel from scratching against other jewellery.

Q: Can I wear this brooch on a bag or hat?
A: Absolutely. This heart-shaped pin is perfect for personalising a hat, scarf, or the fabric strap of a handbag. When attaching it to a bag, ensure the fabric is sturdy enough to support the pin without damage.

Q: What condition is it in and what is included?
A: This item is in Very Good Condition, which means it may show light signs of wear consistent with careful use, but remains in excellent shape. It comes with its original box. Please refer to the condition rating and images for full details before purchasing.
