Q: What typically fits inside the Chanel Single Flap Patent Maxi Square Bag?
A: With approximate dimensions of 32 × 28 × 8 cm, it comfortably carries a long wallet, large smartphone, keys, sunglasses case, make-up pouch and a small water bottle. A slim tablet or 11-inch device fits easily; a slim 13-inch laptop may fit depending on case thickness. For A4 documents, place them horizontally due to the 28 cm height—please compare your items to our measurements for the best fit.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody?
A: The interwoven chain-and-leather strap has an approximate 24 cm drop, so it is designed to sit at the shoulder rather than crossbody for most people. The strap is not adjustable.

Q: How does a single flap differ from a double flap?
A: A single flap has one main flap and an open interior, making it lighter and a touch more spacious with easier access. A double flap adds an internal flap for extra structure and security but adds weight and slightly reduces usable space. Classic single flaps were phased out in the modern Classic Flap line, so vintage single flaps are particularly sought after.

Q: Is patent leather durable and what care is recommended?
A: Patent leather is resilient to light rain but should be treated with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, artificial light and humidity; do not overfill; minimise friction with other materials; and wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid solvent-based cleaners or polishes that could alter the finish. Store the bag upright, loosely padded, with the chain wrapped to prevent marks.

Q: Is colour transfer or stickiness a risk with patent leather?
A: Yes. Patent leather can pick up dye from fabrics (for example, dark denim) and, on older pieces, may develop surface tackiness over time. These issues are often difficult to reverse, so prevention and careful storage are best. If needed, consult a reputable leather restoration specialist, understanding that results can vary.

Q: What pockets and closure does this piece have?
A: This specific bag has a black leather lining with one internal pocket and secures with a classic CC turn‑lock closure. There is no exterior pocket on this piece. Avoid overfilling so the flap closes smoothly and the lock engages without force.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under product information. For this piece, a serial number tag is included. If items such as an authenticity card, dust bag or box are not listed there, they are not included—feel free to contact us for confirmation.

Q: Is this a good option for everyday use?
A: The roomy maxi size and single‑flap interior make it practical for daily essentials while remaining elegant. As with all patent leather, mindful wear is recommended to avoid scuffs and colour transfer, especially with darker garments.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this bag?
A: Every item is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and serial details. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional information or photos on request.
