Q: What are these earrings made of—are they sterling silver?
A: They are crafted in silver‑tone plated metal with crystal embellishments. Dior’s fashion jewellery typically uses plated or finished base metals for sparkle and durability, while pieces made in precious metals (e.g., sterling silver or solid gold) are explicitly described and hallmarked. These earrings are not described as sterling silver.

Q: Are they authentic Christian Dior, and how do you verify that?
A: Yes. Every piece at A Retro Tale undergoes multi‑point authentication by our specialists, including checks of materials, construction, plating, crystal settings, signatures and plaques, and period‑correct details where present. We provide detailed photos and stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell.

Q: Do they require pierced ears and how secure is the fastening?
A: Yes—this pair uses a fish‑hook (French hook) fastening for pierced ears. Many clients add small silicone stoppers to the hooks for extra security during wear; these are widely available but are not included with this listing.

Q: How big are they and how do they sit when worn?
A: Approximate measurements are 35 mm in height (drop), 10 mm in width and 2 mm in depth. They have a dangling profile with a heart motif and a Dior “D” charm, so they sit just below the earlobe with gentle movement.

Q: What is the condition of this vintage pair?
A: Very Good overall. The metal is shiny with light surface scratches and subtle traces of wear consistent with careful use. Please review the photos for a close‑up view of finish and stones.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears or nickel allergies?
A: As with most plated fashion jewellery, trace nickel may be present in underlying alloys or findings. If you have a known sensitivity, consider limiting wear time, using protective sleeves/stoppers, and choosing materials such as medical‑grade titanium, surgical stainless steel, or solid gold for daily wear.

Q: How should I care for the silver‑tone finish and crystals?
A: Keep them away from water, perfume, hairspray and lotions, which can dull plating and crystals. After wearing, gently wipe with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth and store each piece separately in a pouch, away from humidity. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners, or abrasive polishing on plated/crystal‑set jewellery.

Q: Can missing crystals be replaced if one ever comes loose?
A: Yes—experienced jewellers and specialist repair services can source and set comparable rhinestones or crystals. On vintage pieces, an exact colour/size match is not always guaranteed, so we recommend a specialist familiar with costume jewellery.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information on this page. For this listing, no additional items are included.

Q: Can I return these earrings if they don’t suit me?
A: For hygienic reasons, we only accept returns of earrings if the security seal is intact. If the seal has been broken, we cannot accept the return. Standard return timeframes apply—please see our returns information for full details.
