Q: What typically fits inside the Christian Dior Trotter Belt Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 38 × 20 × 9 cm, it comfortably holds a large smartphone, small wallet or cardholder, keys, sunglasses, compact cosmetics, and other daily essentials. Capacity varies by how you pack—please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Does it come with a shoulder strap or allow crossbody wear?
A: This model is designed to be handheld with dual flat top handles. It does not include a shoulder strap or crossbody option. The “belt” refers to the buckle-strap closure detail across the flap/opening rather than a waist-worn design.

Q: How is the interior organised?
A: It features a dark blue fabric lining with one internal zipped pocket and a main compartment for everyday essentials, keeping items secure and easy to access.

Q: What is the Dior Trotter/Oblique canvas, and what era is it from?
A: The repeating Dior monogram (often called Trotter or Oblique) was created by Marc Bohan in 1967 and later revived in the late 1990s/early 2000s, which is why many pieces with this motif are considered vintage today.

Q: Is the jacquard canvas water-resistant?
A: Jacquard canvas is a woven fabric and is not fully waterproof. Avoid heavy rain; if it gets wet, blot gently with a soft, dry cloth and allow it to air-dry away from direct heat. Consider using a gentle fabric protector at your discretion and always test on an inconspicuous area first.

Q: How should I clean and care for the canvas and leather trim?
A: Start with dry care: use a soft brush or lint roller to lift surface dust. For spot cleaning the canvas, use a barely damp, clean cloth and light dabbing—avoid soaking or vigorous rubbing. Keep leather trims dry and wipe with a soft cloth only. Avoid harsh chemicals, and seek professional handbag care for stubborn marks. Store stuffed to maintain shape, away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Q: Does this bag have a serial/date code, and where might it be located?
A: Many Dior bags from the late 1990s onward include a date code stamped on the back of an interior leather tag or on a small tab inside a pocket. Formats have varied over time, and some earlier vintage pieces may not have a code. Presence of a code alone does not guarantee authenticity, but it is one of several useful markers.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section on this page. This piece is sold without additional items unless explicitly stated there.

Q: How do you authenticate this Dior piece?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale undergoes a multi-point review by our in-house experts, with materials, stitching, stamps, and hardware assessed in detail. We also offer optional third‑party digital certificates from recognised authentication services for added peace of mind.

Q: How should I store the bag when not in use?
A: Store it in a breathable dust bag, loosely stuffed with acid‑free tissue to support its shape. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and avoid hanging it by the handles to prevent distortion.
