Q: Are clip-on earrings suitable if I have pierced ears?
A: Yes. Clip-on earrings can be worn whether or not your ears are pierced. For best comfort, position the clip so it sits centred on the lobe and consider adding silicone cushions if you prefer a softer feel.

Q: Are these solid silver?
A: The finish is described as silver-tone, which refers to the colour rather than the metal purity. Fashion jewellery like this is typically made from a base metal with a plated or polished finish. Treat as plated: avoid harsh cleaners and store separately to protect the surface.

Q: Will clip-ons stay secure and be comfortable for an event?
A: Properly fitted clip-ons are designed to hold securely. Comfort depends on lobe thickness and clip style. Tip: keep ears dry, adjust fit as needed, add soft pads if you feel pressure, and take short breaks during very long wear.

Q: Can I adjust the clip tension myself?
A: Some clip-ons use a small screw for fine-tuning; turn it a quarter‑turn at a time and test. Hinged paddle clips can sometimes be gently adjusted but it’s easy to overdo—adding pads is safer, and a jeweller can make precise adjustments if needed.

Q: I have sensitive skin—are these nickel free?
A: We cannot guarantee they are nickel free. Many vintage and fashion pieces may contain nickel in the plating or base metal. If you have a known nickel allergy, consider using barrier pads, limit wear time, and choose nickel‑free options for prolonged use.

Q: How should I clean and store silver-tone jewellery?
A: Wipe after each wear with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth. Avoid soaking, ultrasonic cleaners, toothpaste, or chemical silver dips, as these can damage plating. Keep away from perfume, lotions, and hairspray. Store individually in a dry pouch or box to minimise scratches and tarnish.

Q: Can these be converted to pierced earrings?
A: Many clip-ons can be converted by a skilled jeweller by adding posts or hooks, depending on the design. Note that any alteration can affect the structure and may impact collectability; A Retro Tale sells vintage items as described and unmodified.

Q: What are the measurements and weight?
A: Approximate dimensions are 3 cm in height, 2.5 cm in width, and 1 cm in depth. Weight is not specified; if this is important for you, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Q: What is included with the earrings?
A: Everything included is listed under product information on this page. If items such as pads, box, or dust pouch are not mentioned there, they are not included.

Q: How do you authenticate Givenchy jewellery?
A: Every piece at A Retro Tale is carefully authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, stamps, and period details. Givenchy earrings typically feature a maker’s mark on the clip mechanism or reverse; we’re happy to share close‑up photos or additional details on request.
