Q: Are these suitable for non‑pierced ears?
A: Yes. They feature a clip‑on closure designed to sit securely on the earlobe without a piercing. Position the clip comfortably on the fleshiest part of your lobe and close it gently for a snug fit.

Q: Will clip‑on earrings hurt after a while?
A: Comfort varies by ear shape and tension. Many people comfortably wear clip‑ons for a few hours; for longer events, take short breaks. Adding silicone cushions and ensuring the clip isn’t overly tight can greatly improve comfort.

Q: Can I adjust the clip tension myself?
A: Many hinged clip‑ons allow small adjustments. You can very slightly loosen the clip so it holds firmly without pinching; if unsure, ask a professional jeweller to adjust them. Do not over‑bend the mechanism as this may weaken it.

Q: Are these solid gold or gold‑plated?
A: These are gold‑plated statement earrings. Versace fashion jewellery is typically crafted from a base metal such as brass with a gold‑tone or gold‑plated finish, rather than solid precious metal.

Q: Are they hypoallergenic and nickel‑free?
A: Modern Versace states its fashion jewellery is lead‑ and nickel‑free and hypoallergenic. However, as this is a vintage piece, earlier production may predate current standards. If you have sensitive skin, consider using protective cushions or barriers and test wear for a short period first.

Q: How big are they and how do they wear on the ear?
A: The approximate size is listed under Measurements: 5 × 2.5 × 0.5 cm. They are statement drops with a Medusa motif and dangling medallion, so they have a noticeable presence on the ear.

Q: How should I care for gold‑plated vintage jewellery?
A: Wipe after wear with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap, then dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cloths, polishing pastes, ultrasonic cleaners, perfumes, lotions, and prolonged moisture. Store separately to prevent scratches and plating wear.

Q: Can these be converted to pierced earrings?
A: A skilled jeweller can often convert clip‑ons to posts, but modifying vintage pieces can reduce collector value and may affect the finish. If you prefer a non‑permanent option, consider earring converters instead.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section. For this piece, there are no additional items included beyond the earrings themselves.

Q: How do you authenticate these earrings?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts through multi‑point checks of materials, construction, hardware, stamps and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide further details on request.
