Q: What typically fits inside the Gucci Patent Soho Chain Tote?
A: With approximate measurements of 37 × 26 × 12 cm, it comfortably carries daily essentials: large smartphone, continental wallet, keys, slim sunglasses in a soft case, AirPods, a small cosmetics pouch and an A5 diary/notebook. A4 documents generally fit when placed horizontally. This series often includes interior zip/slip pockets; this specific piece has a black fabric lining and a detachable pouch for valuables—see our photos for the exact layout.

Q: Will it fit a tablet or laptop?
A: Compact tablets (e.g., 11-inch iPad/Kindle) typically fit. Most 13-inch laptops can fit horizontally without a bulky case; 14-inch devices may be snug due to the curved opening. Compare your device’s dimensions with the Measurements shown, or ask us and we’ll perform a tailored fit check for this exact bag.

Q: Are the straps adjustable, and can it be worn crossbody?
A: The dual chain‑and‑leather shoulder straps are not adjustable. Our Measurements list an approximate strap drop of 23/40 cm (doubled/single). It’s designed for shoulder carry rather than true crossbody wear; on most wearers the single‑length drop is still best suited to the shoulder.

Q: How secure is the closure and what’s the interior like?
A: The Soho Chain Tote typically has an open top secured by an internal hook/lobster clasp. Inside you’ll commonly find zip and slip pockets to organise smaller items, and this piece includes a detachable pouch. For commuting or travel, we recommend keeping the bag upright and using the pouch for extra security.

Q: What is patent leather and how should I care for it?
A: Patent leather is smooth leather finished with a high‑gloss polyurethane coating. Wipe gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol‑based cleaners that can dull the shine. Keep away from prolonged heat and humidity, and be mindful of colour transfer from dark denim or saturated fabrics—store the bag separately in a breathable dust bag, lightly stuffed and away from direct sunlight.

Q: Can patent leather become sticky over time?
A: In warm, humid conditions or after improper cleaning, patent leather can feel tacky as plasticisers migrate to the surface. Prevent this by storing in a cool, dry place, never in plastic, and keeping the surface clean with gentle wipes. If stickiness or stubborn marks occur, consult a reputable luxury leather specialist rather than using aggressive DIY solvents.

Q: This piece notes shearling trim—how do I look after it?
A: Treat shearling with care: avoid heavy rain; if lightly damp, blot (don’t rub) and air‑dry away from heat. Gently brush the wool with a clean, soft brush to keep it fluffy, and store in a breathable dust bag (never plastic). Keep it away from oils, makeup and rough surfaces to minimise matting or shedding; for deep cleaning, use a specialist familiar with shearling.

Q: Are the chain straps comfortable and is the bag heavy?
A: The chain straps feature leather shoulder pads for comfort and distribute weight well for day‑to‑evening use. Chains can slide on very smooth fabrics—wear over textured outerwear for extra grip. If you’d like the exact scale weight of this item, we’ll provide it on request.

Q: Is the Gucci Soho Chain Tote still produced?
A: The Soho line (including chain totes and the Disco crossbody) is largely discontinued at Gucci. Availability today is primarily through the pre‑loved market, with details varying by year and season.

Q: Where are the brand markings and codes located?
A: Authentic Gucci bags typically have an interior leather tag with “GUCCI made in Italy” and a two‑row number set (often 10–13 digits) on the reverse indicating style and supplier codes. Many modern examples also include a small QR tag near the leather tab. Placement can vary—let us know if you’d like close‑up photos for this exact piece.

Q: What accessories are included and how do you authenticate?
A: For this item we list: dust bag and detachable pouch under “Accessories.” If an accessory isn’t mentioned there, it isn’t included—feel free to ask us to confirm. Every piece at A Retro Tale undergoes rigorous, multi‑point authentication by our in‑house experts, assessing materials, stitching, hardware, stamps/serials and overall construction; we stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell.
