Q: What are the dimensions and material of this Carré 90?
A: It measures approximately 90 x 90 centimetres (about 34.8 x 34.8 inches) and is crafted from 100% silk twill with hand-rolled edges. As each hem is finished by hand, the size may vary slightly from scarf to scarf.

Q: What is the Les Rubans du Cheval motif and who designed it?
A: The design celebrates equestrian award ribbons and was created by Joachim Metz. It was first issued in 1988 and has been reissued in later years, including the early 1990s.

Q: How can I wear a Carré 90?
A: The Carré 90 is wonderfully versatile. Wear it around the neck, as a headscarf, at the waist as a belt, styled as a top, or tied to a bag handle. The generous size allows for creative knots and full display of the artwork.

Q: How should I care for this vintage silk scarf?
A: Avoid contact with rain, water, perfume and other chemicals. Store it flat and untied. When cleaning is needed, entrust it to a professional dry cleaner experienced with silk and hand-rolled edges. Older issues can be more prone to colour transfer if exposed to moisture, so take extra care.

Q: How do you authenticate Hermès scarves?
A: Authentic Hermès carrés feature hand-rolled hems that roll towards the front with even, colour-matched stitching, crisp silk twill, an artist’s signature within the artwork, and the Hermès Paris marking. Care labels have varied over the decades, so they are not the sole indicator. Every piece at A Retro Tale is rigorously authenticated by our in‑house experts.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything that comes with the item is listed in the product information on this page. If a box, ribbon or other extras are not listed there, they are not included.

Q: Will a Carré 90 suit all genders?
A: Yes. Hermès presents the Carré 90 as a versatile, gender-inclusive piece with countless styling options—there are no rules, only personal preference.

Q: Why might the measurements differ slightly from 90 x 90 cm?
A: Because the hems are hand-rolled and finished by hand, final dimensions can vary by a small margin.

Q: What does your condition note mean?
A: Very Good with light traces of use typically indicates gentle signs of wear such as soft creasing from storage or a minor pull, with no significant flaws. Please review the photos and product information for full details.
