Q: What typically fits inside the Picotin Lock 22?
A: With this item’s measurements of approximately 22 × 21 × 18 cm and an open interior, it comfortably holds a long wallet, smartphone, sunglasses case, a 500 ml water bottle, a small cosmetics pouch, and a compact tablet such as an iPad mini. Packing pouches help keep everything upright. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Is the Picotin 22 designed to be worn on the shoulder?
A: The Picotin is intended for hand or crook-of-arm carry. This piece has a handle drop of about 15 cm, which is usually too short for comfortable shoulder wear. Third‑party strap conversions exist, but they can alter the bag’s shape and stress the handles; we recommend using it as designed.

Q: How secure is the opening?
A: The bag has an open top with a leather strap that threads through metal loops and fastens with a padlock. When cinched, it provides a useful deterrent, but it is not as closed as a zip. We recommend placing valuables in a zipped pouch inside when travelling or in crowded areas.

Q: What is Clémence leather like, and how will it age?
A: Clémence is a supple, grained taurillon calfskin with a soft hand and a relaxed drape over time. It is relatively forgiving to light surface marks and develops a gentle slouch, especially at the corners, giving the Picotin a casual, lived‑in look. Compared with Epsom or Togo, Clémence is slightly heavier and less structured.

Q: Is the interior lined or are there pockets?
A: The Picotin is unlined; you see the suede side of the leather inside, and there are no interior pockets. A rigid base with four metal feet helps it stand and protects the underside.

Q: Does this listing include a lock, keys or a dust bag?
A: The Picotin Lock design uses a padlock and keys, but inclusions vary by piece. Please refer to the product information on this page for exactly what is included; for this bag, the product information indicates no additional items are included.

Q: What does the blind stamp “square I (2005)” mean?
A: Hermès uses discreet blind stamps to indicate production years. A letter I inside a square corresponds to 2005, confirming this piece was crafted that year.

Q: How does the 22 compare with the Picotin 18 and 26?
A: The 22 (often called MM) is the versatile, medium everyday size. The 18 (PM) suits just‑the‑essentials carry, while the 26 (GM) offers extra room for a cardigan or additional pouches. Picotin numbers reflect the base width in centimetres.

Q: Any care tips for maintaining shape and condition?
A: Avoid overloading to limit slouching, and keep liquids capped to protect the unlined interior. Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and allow to air‑dry away from heat. Store loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag with the padlock removed and handles upright. If you prefer a crisper look, a lightweight organiser or base shaper can add structure.

Q: Is the Picotin 22 suitable for daily use?
A: Yes. The Picotin 22 in Clémence leather is made for everyday carry—durable materials, a practical open compartment, and a relaxed yet polished silhouette make it an excellent daily bag.
