Q: What is the size and fit of this watch?
A: The case measures 24 mm and the stainless-steel bracelet currently fits wrists up to approximately 16 cm. This is a petite size that wears elegantly on smaller wrists; please refer to the measurements and photos for scale.

Q: Can the bracelet be resized or adjusted?
A: Yes. The bracelet uses removable links to fine-tune the fit. A qualified watchmaker or jeweller can add or remove links. Additional links are not included unless specifically listed under the product information section.

Q: What movement does it use and how often will the battery need replacing?
A: It runs on a quartz movement for reliable, low‑maintenance timekeeping. Quartz watch batteries typically last around 1–3 years depending on use. Any competent watchmaker can replace the battery when needed.

Q: Is this watch water‑resistant?
A: As a vintage piece, water resistance cannot be guaranteed. Even if the model originally had a rating, ageing gaskets and previous servicing can affect performance. We recommend avoiding bathing, swimming, or heavy rain with the watch and having a watchmaker pressure‑test it only after a full gasket service.

Q: What is the condition of this watch?
A: Very Good overall with light traces of use. There are scratches on the case, case back, and bracelet consistent with careful wear. Please review the images for a close look at the surfaces and edges.

Q: What does the reference number SE4.220 indicate?
A: SE4.220 is an Hermès reference associated with small, elegant quartz models from the Sellier/Serie family, typically in the 24 mm size. Examples of this reference are commonly seen from the 1990s–2000s on the secondary market.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section on this page. Unless expressly stated there, items such as a branded box, papers, or spare links are not included.

Q: Can I change the bracelet to a leather strap?
A: This example is fitted with a matching stainless‑steel bracelet. Strap changes may be possible depending on the exact lug and end‑link design of your watch. A watchmaker can advise on compatibility and supply the correct strap and fittings if desired.

Q: How should I care for a vintage Hermès steel watch?
A: Wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth after wear, keep it away from moisture and harsh chemicals, and store it separately to avoid scratches. Have the battery replaced and the gaskets inspected by a professional as needed to maintain performance.

Q: Is the watch authentic?
A: Yes. Every piece at A Retro Tale is thoroughly authenticated by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, finishing, stamps, and reference numbers. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide additional details on request.
