Q: What are the measurements and what typically fits inside?
A: The briefcase measures approximately 40 × 30 × 5 cm with a 13 cm handle drop. It comfortably fits A4 documents, a tablet, and most 13–14 inch laptops; many slim 15‑inch devices also fit. For laptops, we recommend using a separate protective sleeve as the interior is organised textile rather than heavily padded.

Q: Does this bag have a shoulder strap?
A: This specific piece is the classic hand‑carry Porte‑Documents Voyage. The product information lists no additional strap, and many earlier PDV models were produced without strap anchors. If you prefer shoulder carry, Louis Vuitton’s later PDV PM, Porte‑Documents Jour or Business MM variants typically include a detachable strap.

Q: Is Damier Graphite canvas durable and water‑resistant?
A: Yes, Louis Vuitton’s coated canvas is hard‑wearing and easy to maintain. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and mild soapy water if needed, and avoid alcohol‑based products, oils, solvents or harsh cleaners. It is resistant to light moisture but not fully waterproof, so avoid soaking and prolonged heavy rain.

Q: How secure and practical is the opening?
A: It has a zip‑around closure that keeps contents secure and allows a wide opening for easy access. Inside, the organised textile lining includes multiple compartments and pockets to separate documents and daily essentials.

Q: Will it fit a 15‑inch MacBook or similar?
A: Many slim 15‑inch laptops will fit due to the 40 cm width, though thicker gaming/workstation models may be too bulky. Please compare your device’s exact measurements with the dimensions above and consider using a slim sleeve for protection.

Q: What does the date code BA4171 mean?
A: The letters indicate country and the numbers indicate production period. BA corresponds to France, and the 2007–2021 format reads as week/year, so BA4171 indicates production in France in the 47th week of 2011.

Q: How should I care for the leather trim and handles?
A: Keep leather away from liquids, oils and cosmetics. If needed, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat, and store the bag loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to help it keep its shape.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: The product information for this listing shows no additional items included. Anything that comes with the bag is always listed on this page.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this bag?
