Q: What can the Altona GM typically hold?
A: With its structured two-compartment interior and approximate measurements of 38 x 30 x 7 cm, it comfortably fits A4 documents, a slim 14–15 inch laptop, a tablet, notebook, and daily essentials such as a wallet and charger. Capacity will vary with your specific device and how you pack—please compare your laptop’s footprint to the measurements listed on this page.

Q: Does this model come with a shoulder strap?
A: No. The Altona GM is designed to be hand‑carried via a single top handle. The handle drop is approximately 5 cm, offering a classic attaché‑style carry.

Q: How secure is the closure and are keys included?
A: The briefcase uses a push‑lock closure for quick, secure access. Some Altona models originally shipped with lock keys; inclusion varies by piece. Everything included with this item is listed in the product information section—if keys are not listed there, they are not included.

Q: What is the interior layout?
A: Inside you’ll find two organised main compartments lined in brown fabric, ideal for separating documents and a laptop, plus an exterior slip pocket for quick‑access items like tickets or a notepad.

Q: Is it suitable for flights or commuting?
A: Yes. Its slim, structured profile is designed for professional use and typically fits under most airline seats as a personal item. Airline rules differ, so please check your carrier’s cabin size limits if you plan to fly with it.

Q: What materials is it made from and how should I care for it?
A: Crafted in Damier Ebene coated canvas with smooth brown leather trim and gold‑tone hardware. Wipe canvas with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry naturally. Avoid harsh cleaners, oils and prolonged heat or direct sunlight. Keep light‑coloured fabrics away from the trim to minimise colour transfer. Store the briefcase lightly stuffed in its dust bag to help maintain its shape.

Q: Is this a current model?
A: This is a vintage piece from past Louis Vuitton collections and is no longer produced, making it a refined choice for a classic business look.

Q: Where was this item made?
A: France. The made‑in stamp inside the bag confirms its country of origin, as noted in the product information.

Q: Does it have a serial number or date code, and where might it be?
A: Louis Vuitton pieces from this era usually feature a date code stamped on a small leather tab along an interior seam or stamped directly on the lining. Date codes indicate manufacturing time and location but are not, by themselves, proof of authenticity. Some newer LV items use microchips instead of visible codes, but this vintage model typically has a date code.

Q: What exactly is included with this item?
A: This listing includes a dust bag. Any additional items would be explicitly listed in the product information section; if an item isn’t listed there, it is not included.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this piece?
A: Every item is carefully vetted by our in‑house experts through multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, hardware, stamps and date codes, supported by specialist tools and experience. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell and are happy to provide further details on request.
