Q: What typically fits inside the Epi Soufflot?
A: With approximate internal space based on its 30 × 15 × 15 cm dimensions, it comfortably carries a long wallet, smartphone, keys, sunglasses, a small cosmetics case, and a compact umbrella. A 500 ml water bottle fits horizontally. It does not suit A4 documents or larger laptops. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Can I wear it on the shoulder?
A: The handle drop on this piece is approximately 16 cm. It is ideal in hand or in the crook of the arm, and some find it fits under the shoulder depending on build and layers. If in doubt, measure 16 cm from the top of your shoulder to check clearance with your usual coat or knitwear.

Q: Is this the vintage Soufflot with the matching pouch?
A: Yes. As listed in the product information, this bag comes with a detachable matching pouch. Only the items stated in the product information are included; if an item isn’t listed there (for example a dust bag), it is not included.

Q: Is the classic Soufflot still in production?
A: The cylindrical Epi Soufflot with matching pouch is a vintage model from the 1990s–2000s and is no longer made in this exact form. Louis Vuitton has issued modern Soufflot versions (such as BB/MM) with different construction and proportions.

Q: What is Epi leather and how does it wear?
A: Epi is Louis Vuitton’s textured, dyed‑through leather known for its structure, scratch resistance and good resilience to light rain. It holds its shape well in daily use and ages beautifully when cared for properly.

Q: How should I care for Epi leather?
A: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately; avoid soaps, solvents, oils and alcohol‑based products. Keep away from prolonged heat and direct sunlight to minimise colour fade. Store loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag, and avoid overloading to preserve the handles and silhouette.

Q: What is the lining and hardware like on this piece?
A: The Soufflot typically features a tonal microfibre/Alcantara lining with an interior slip pocket and a top zip closure. Hardware is gold‑tone plated metal; light surface scratches are common on vintage pieces and are reflected in our condition notes.

Q: Where is the date code and how do I read it?
A: Louis Vuitton used letter‑number date codes up to early 2021 to indicate factory and production date. On Soufflot bags, the code is usually stamped discreetly inside, often along a seam or on a small tab near the pocket. Date codes are not unique serial numbers and are not proof of authenticity on their own—each item at A Retro Tale is fully authenticated by our experts.

Q: Is Epi leather rain‑friendly?
A: It resists light rain better than many smooth leathers. If caught in a shower, blot dry with a soft cloth as soon as possible and allow to air‑dry away from heat. Avoid soaking and prolonged moisture to protect the leather and lining.
