Q: What can I use this Louis Vuitton keychain for?
A: It is designed to work both as a key holder and as a decorative bag charm. The split ring secures keys and fobs, while the lobster clasp lets you clip it to a bag’s D‑ring, handle hardware or belt loop for quick access.

Q: Will the clasp fit my bag’s hardware?
A: The lobster clasp is made to attach to most standard bag D‑rings and hardware loops. The overall piece measures approximately 14.5 × 2 × 0.6 cm. If you’re unsure about your bag, compare the diameter of its hardware with the clasp opening or contact us for exact clasp measurements.

Q: What is the hardware and finish made of?
A: Louis Vuitton key holders and bag charms typically use polished metal with a gold‑tone finish and signature engravings. As this is a vintage piece, light scratches and some discolouration are present as noted in the condition report, which is normal for plated finishes with use.

Q: How should I care for the metal hardware?
A: Wipe gently with a soft, dry, lint‑free cloth after wear. Avoid water, perfume, alcohol‑based products and household cleaners, as chemicals can dull or damage the finish. Store it in a cool, dry place when not in use. For significant wear, seek professional hardware care rather than abrasive polishes.

Q: Can bag charms scratch my bag’s hardware?
A: Minor contact marks on D‑rings or chain links can occur with movement over time. To minimise this, attach the charm to existing metal hardware (rather than delicate leather), ensure it hangs freely, and remove it for activities where the bag moves a lot.

Q: Does this keychain have a date code or serial number?
A: Some older Louis Vuitton bag charms and key holders may carry small stamped codes on the hardware, while others do not. Date codes (when present) indicate production timeframe and location but are not unique serial numbers. Their presence or absence is not proof of authenticity. Louis Vuitton has also transitioned many products to an internal microchip system in recent years. Every item at A Retro Tale is authenticated by our experts.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed in the product information on this page. If a box, dust bag or other extras are not listed in the product information, they are not included with this piece.

Q: Is this keychain unisex?
A: Yes. Its black and multicolour design with gold‑tone hardware makes it a versatile choice for any set of keys or bag, regardless of gender.

Q: Where was this piece made?
A: According to the product information, this item was made in Italy.
