Q: What typically fits inside the Louis Vuitton Viva Cité PM?
A: With an approximate footprint of 18 × 14 × 9 cm, it’s ideal for compact daily essentials: a large smartphone, a small/compact wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick, wireless earbuds and slim sunglasses in a soft sleeve. A full‑length continental wallet and tablets generally do not fit comfortably. If you’d like a tailored fit check for this exact piece, just ask.

Q: Can I wear it crossbody and is the strap adjustable?
A: Yes—Viva Cité PM features a non‑removable, adjustable Vachetta leather strap. Typical drops range around 50–60 cm, which wears as a shoulder bag or a high crossbody on many wearers. This specific piece lists a strap measurement of 60 cm; if you’d like on‑body photos, we’re happy to help.

Q: How secure is the closure and what pockets does it have?
A: The main compartment has a top zip for everyday security. There’s also a front exterior pocket with a magnetic snap for quick‑access items. Interiors are lined in red Alcantara (microfibre) with open slip pocket(s); layouts can vary slightly by production year—our listing photos show the exact configuration.

Q: Is the Viva Cité PM still produced?
A: No—this model is discontinued. Most authentic examples date from the early to mid‑2000s, so the pre‑loved market is the best place to find one.

Q: Where is the date code on this model, and what about LV microchips?
A: On Alcantara‑lined Louis Vuitton bags, the date code is typically stamped directly into the lining, often near the edge of an interior pocket. Codes can soften or fade with age. From 2021, Louis Vuitton phased in embedded microchips instead of visible date codes; since the Viva Cité PM predates that change, authentic pieces will usually have a date code rather than a scannable chip.

Q: What materials is it made of and how durable is it?
A: It’s crafted from Monogram coated canvas with natural Vachetta leather trim and gold‑tone hardware. The canvas is robust and easy to wipe clean; the untreated Vachetta is more delicate and will develop a honey patina over time. Avoid heavy rain and dark dye transfer, and store lightly stuffed in a breathable dust bag. For spot cleaning, use a soft, dry cloth on canvas and keep moisture away from the Vachetta.

Q: Where were Viva Cité PM bags made? What does this piece say?
A: Production varied by year—authentic examples exist with “Made in France,” “Made in Spain,” and “Made in U.S.A.” stamps. This specific piece is labelled Made in France (see our photos and the Country of Origin on this page).

Q: Is the strap replaceable if it shows wear?
A: The strap is fixed (non‑detachable) but is a separate leather component. Louis Vuitton boutiques may offer repairs or strap replacement subject to assessment and parts availability; reputable independent leather specialists can also clean and refresh Vachetta. We’re happy to advise on options for your location.

Q: Is the bag heavy to carry?
A: No—the Viva Cité PM is lightweight thanks to its coated canvas construction and compact size. If you’d like the exact scale weight for this piece, we can provide it on request.

Q: What accessories are included with this item, and how is authenticity guaranteed?
A: This listing is sold as the bag only and comes with no accessories. Every item at A Retro Tale is meticulously vetted by our in‑house experts through multi‑point checks of materials, stitching, stamps, date code, hardware and overall construction—we stand behind the authenticity of every piece we sell.
