OUT OF STOCK
Ideal for smart-casual office days and weekend city breaks, this circa 2000 Omega Seamaster 120M in stainless steel adds understated refinement. Its versatile 36mm profile and black dial pair with tailoring or denim alike, making it a polished companion from desk to dinner.
Please note that the majority of our items are vintage and therefore have tales to tell unless stated otherwise. Therefore, please look at pictures, descriptions and measurements provided as they give you the best idea of the story this item has to tell.
* Please note that when you buy a vintage product, the dimensions may vary slightly from a new one depending on previous care and storage.
Q: What exactly is this model? A: It is the Omega Seamaster 120M mid‑size, reference 2511.50, in stainless steel with a black dial and date. This reference is the quartz version of the Seamaster 120M in the 36 mm size class.
Q: Is it quartz or automatic, and which calibre does it use? A: This reference is quartz. Depending on production year, Seamaster 120M models like this used Omega’s 1438 or the updated 1538 quartz calibre. Late‑1990s/early‑2000s examples commonly house calibre 1538, which includes an end‑of‑battery‑life indicator.
Q: What are the key dimensions and how does it wear? A: The case measures approximately 36–36.25 mm across, with a slim profile and an integrated steel bracelet. The lug width is 18 mm, so it accepts standard 18 mm straps if you prefer a change from the bracelet. The balanced proportions make it suitable for many wrist sizes.
Q: Will it fit my wrist out of the box? A: The bracelet is currently sized to fit a wrist up to about 16.5 cm. If your wrist is larger, additional links or a strap swap may be needed; links are not included unless stated in the product information.
Q: Does it have a rotating dive bezel? A: No. The Seamaster 120M in this configuration features a smooth, fixed polished bezel, giving it a cleaner, more dress‑sport look than the rotating‑bezel Seamaster 300M models.
Q: What crystal does it use? A: It is fitted with a sapphire crystal with anti‑reflective treatment, known for excellent scratch resistance in daily wear.
Q: Is it safe to swim or shower with this watch? A: The model was originally rated to 120 metres. However, this is a vintage piece; water resistance on older watches cannot be guaranteed without a recent pressure test and fresh seals. We recommend avoiding submersion unless it has been tested by a qualified watchmaker after any service or battery change.
Q: How long does the battery last and how will I know when to replace it? A: Typical battery life for the 1538 quartz movement is around 3–3.5 years. When the battery is nearing depletion, the seconds hand will jump in multi‑second intervals (EOL indicator). Have the battery replaced by an authorised or experienced watchmaker and request a water‑resistance check at the same time.
Q: What does the serial number indicate about the production year? A: The serial 58,000,403 places production in the late 1990s to around 1998–2000. For an exact date, Omega can issue an Extract from the Archives based on the serial number.
Q: What is included and what is the condition? A: Please refer to the product information on this page for what is included with the watch. This piece is graded Very Good overall, with visible surface scratches on the bezel, case, case back and bracelet as photographed. Our images form part of the description, so please review them closely.
Q: How do you authenticate this watch? A: Every item at A Retro Tale is examined by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of case and bracelet construction, dial and hands, movement, engravings and serials. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide additional details on request.
