Q: Is this Saint Laurent beads and silver necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is the metal solid silver?
A: Saint Laurent fashion jewellery typically uses plated base metal for its silver‑tone finishes, and beads on vintage pieces may be wood, resin, glass or stone. This necklace features dark brown beads with silver‑toned details and hardware. It is not solid sterling silver unless explicitly stated. Please review the close‑up photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm the specific composition of this piece.

Q: What is the length and will it fit me?
A: The listed perimeter is approximately 30 cm, which is a choker length designed to sit high on the neck. If you need the precise wearable range (minimum–maximum), bead diameter or drop measurements, message us and we’ll measure them for you.

Q: How does it fasten?
A: It secures with a hook clasp. Hook clasps are common on vintage Saint Laurent necklaces and provide quick on/off. Please see the images for the exact closure and contact us if you’d like confirmation or guidance on adding a small extender.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a vintage Saint Laurent necklace?
A: Many vintage pieces feature a signature tag or plaque stamped “YVES SAINT LAURENT” or “SAINT LAURENT,” sometimes with a season code. Placement and format vary by era, and some items may be unsigned. Our listing photos show any stamps or signatures present on this exact necklace.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Vintage and fashion jewellery may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider using a clear barrier product on contact points or wearing the necklace for shorter periods. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: How should I care for the beads and silver‑tone hardware?
A: Keep the necklace dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; use a dry cotton bud around metal details. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips, and avoid silver polish on plated finishes. Store flat and separately in a pouch/box, away from humidity and direct sunlight.

Q: Will the finish tarnish or fade, and can I wear it in water?
A: Plated finishes can show light surface wear over time, and moisture can dull beads and accelerate plating wear. We recommend keeping the necklace dry, removing it before showering, swimming or exercise, and storing it carefully to preserve colour and lustre.

Q: Can it be resized, repaired, or replated?
A: A jeweller can often add a short extender chain, adjust or replace the hook clasp, restring beads if needed, or perform gentle replating. Saint Laurent boutique service for vintage fashion jewellery is at their discretion. We don’t offer in‑house modifications, but we can recommend reputable specialists on request; note that alterations may affect originality and resale value.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition with gentle vintage wear possible unless stated otherwise. Only accessories specifically shown or listed are included; this listing includes a box. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
