Q: Is this Chanel Ribbon Coco Leather Chain Choker authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold or set with real diamonds?
A: Vintage Chanel fashion jewellery is typically crafted from gold‑tone plated base metal with glass crystals; this design also features a black leather‑and‑chain interwoven strap and a black leather ribbon detail. It is not solid gold and the stones are not diamonds unless explicitly stated.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace length is approximately 39 cm, designed to sit high on the neck in classic choker style. The medallion pendant measures about 4.5 cm (height) x 2.5 cm (width) x 1 cm (depth). For best fit, measure your neck snugly and allow 1–2 cm of comfort room.

Q: Is the length adjustable? Can I add an extender?
A: Many chokers can accommodate a short extender or clasp adjustment by a jeweller. We don’t offer in‑house alterations, but we can recommend reputable specialists. Adding an extender is a reversible way to fine‑tune the fit.

Q: How does it fasten?
A: Chanel chokers commonly use a lobster or hook‑style clasp. Please refer to our close‑up photos for the exact closure on this piece, or contact us and we’ll confirm it for you.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a vintage Chanel necklace?
A: Many vintage pieces feature an oval or round plaque stamped CHANEL and often the country of origin; some eras include a season/date code. Placement and format vary by collection and year. Our listing images show any stamps present on this choker.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Costume jewellery alloys and platings may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider using a clear barrier product on contact points, wear it over a high neckline, and discontinue use if irritation occurs. We’re happy to advise on options for sensitive skin.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone plating, leather and crystals?
A: Keep the choker dry and avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairspray and sanitiser. After wear, gently wipe metal and crystals with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; avoid soaking or chemical dips. Store it separately in a pouch or box to minimise scratches and preserve the leather and plating.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower, pool or at the gym?
A: We recommend removing this piece before bathing, swimming or exercising. Moisture and sweat can accelerate wear to plating, leather and crystal settings.

Q: What condition should I expect and what is included?
A: This choker is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible. It is delivered with no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
