Q: What is this necklace made of and what hallmarks should I expect?
A: It is crafted in sterling silver (925). Authentic examples typically bear stamps such as “Tiffany & Co.” and “Peretti 925”; many Peretti pieces are also marked “Spain” on the pendant or chain tag depending on the production period.

Q: Is the Double Teardrop still sold by Tiffany & Co.?
A: As of 13 May 2026, Tiffany’s current catalogue features the single Teardrop pendant; Double Teardrop pieces are most commonly encountered as vintage designs on the secondary market.

Q: What is the chain length and where does it sit on the neck?
A: This necklace measures approximately 50 cm (about 19.7 in). On most wearers it rests around the collarbone to upper chest. It has a fine chain with a lobster clasp. If you prefer a different drop, a jeweller can add an extra jump ring or replace the chain while retaining the original pendant.

Q: Does the pendant separate into two pieces?
A: No. The Double Teardrop is a single sculptural element composed of two joined, asymmetrical drops. It slides along the chain, but the teardrops themselves do not detach.

Q: Will the sterling silver tarnish and how should I care for it?
A: Sterling silver naturally tarnishes with exposure to air, humidity, perspiration, cosmetics and especially chlorine. Clean with a silver polishing cloth or a small amount of silver jewellery cleaner, then rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly. Regular wear can help minimise tarnish; store the piece dry in an anti‑tarnish pouch when not in use.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower, pool or sea?
A: It is best to remove sterling silver jewellery before showering, swimming or using hot tubs. Water, soaps and chlorine can accelerate tarnish and dull the finish.

Q: Is sterling silver suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver alloyed primarily with copper and is generally nickel‑free. If you have metal sensitivities, consider patch‑testing and follow your dermatologist’s advice.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed in the product information section. If a box, pouch or paperwork is not listed there, it is not included with this piece.

A: Every item at A Retro Tale is thoroughly vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, hallmarks and era‑correct details. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can provide additional photos or information on request.
