Q: What is the chain length and how will it sit on the neck?
A: The chain measures approximately 41 cm (about 16 in), which typically sits at the base of the neck on most wearers. Fit can vary by build; an extender can be added by a jeweller if you prefer a little extra length.

Q: Is the chain adjustable or can it be lengthened/shortened?
A: The original fine chain is not adjustable by default. A jeweller can add a small extender for extra length or shorten the chain to your preferred fit without affecting the pendant.

Q: What metal is it and what hallmarks should I expect?
A: This necklace is crafted in sterling silver (92.5% pure silver). Authentic Tiffany pieces are typically stamped with Tiffany & Co. branding and a 925 purity mark on the pendant and/or near the clasp; exact placement can vary by production year.

Q: Will sterling silver tarnish, and how should I clean it?
A: Yes—tarnish is natural with sterling silver. Wipe after wear with a soft, non‑abrasive cloth. For a deeper clean, use a quality silver polishing cloth or a Tiffany silver polish, then rinse with lukewarm water and dry thoroughly. Avoid bleach, household cleaners and harsh chemicals, which can accelerate tarnishing.

Q: Can I wear it in the shower or while swimming?
A: Brief contact with fresh water is usually fine, but prolonged exposure to chlorinated pools, hot tubs or seawater can dull the shine and speed up tarnish. If it gets wet, rinse with fresh water, dry well and store it in a clean pouch or box.

Q: Is the pendant removable and can I swap the chain?
A: The pendant is fitted to a fine chain with a spring‑ring closure. In most examples the pendant can be moved to another slim chain via its bail; if you plan to swap chains, ensure the new chain fits the bail opening or ask a jeweller for assistance.

Q: How big is the starfish motif?
A: Tiffany has produced starfish pendants in more than one size (for example, smaller motifs around 12 mm wide and larger motifs around 28 mm wide in current collections). For this specific piece, please refer to the Measurements on this page or contact us for exact dimensions if not listed.

Q: What exactly is included with my purchase?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section on this page. If a Tiffany box or pouch is not mentioned there, it is not included.

Q: What type of clasp does it have?
A: It features a classic spring‑ring closure that is secure and easy to operate.

Q: How does A Retro Tale authenticate this item?
A: Every piece is inspected by our specialists using multi‑point checks of metal composition, hallmarks, construction, finishing and period‑correct details. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide additional photos or details on request.
