Q: Are these suitable for non‑pierced ears?
A: Yes. They feature a clip‑on fastening that secures to the earlobe without the need for piercings. They can also be worn on pierced ears as the clip grips the lobe rather than the piercing itself.

Q: How secure and comfortable are the clips, and how can I reduce pinching?
A: Properly fitted clip‑ons hold securely for everyday wear. For comfort, position the clip on the fleshiest part of the lobe, add clear silicone pads or cushions if needed, and take short breaks during extended wear. If you experience persistent pressure, consider a professional adjustment.

Q: Can the clip tension be adjusted?
A: Many vintage clip‑ons use paddle or hinge mechanisms that can be delicately adjusted by a jeweller. Tiny changes make a big difference—do not force the metal. Stick‑on comfort pads are a non‑invasive way to fine‑tune fit at home.

Q: Can clip‑on earrings be converted to posts for pierced ears (or vice versa)?
A: Some jewellers offer conversion services. Chanel offers earring adaptation services for selected pieces in‑boutique, though availability for vintage costume jewellery can vary. Any modification may affect collectability and our return policy; A Retro Tale does not perform alterations.

Q: What are the materials, and are they hypoallergenic?
A: These are Chanel vintage costume earrings in a silver‑tone finish with a central black stone. Vintage costume jewellery is typically plated over base metal, and sensitivity varies by wearer. We cannot guarantee they are hypoallergenic. If you have metal sensitivities, consider short trial wears and using barrier pads on the clips.

Q: How should I care for silver‑tone costume jewellery?
A: Follow “last on, first off”: apply fragrance, hair spray and lotions before putting the earrings on. Avoid water, humidity and polishing liquids; after wear, wipe gently with a soft dry cloth and store in the box provided, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Q: How big are these and how do they sit on the ear?
A: They measure approximately 2 × 2 × 1 cm. The compact, domed clover design sits neatly on the lobe with a clip close to the ear for a refined profile. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This pair comes with a Chanel box, as listed. If an accessory (such as a dust bag or additional pads) is not listed under Accessories, it is not included.

Q: Do Chanel costume earrings have authenticity cards or serial numbers?
A: Chanel costume earrings generally do not have individual serial numbers or authenticity cards. Instead, many pieces carry signature stamps on the reverse that can indicate the era. Our experts assess stamps alongside construction, materials and overall craftsmanship.

Q: How do you authenticate these earrings?
A: Every piece at A Retro Tale is vetted by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, finishing, stamps and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and are happy to provide additional photos or details on request.
