Q: Are these Chanel Pearl Heart Earrings authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What materials are they made from? Are the pearls real?
A: These earrings are from the Chanel Spring/Summer 1992 costume jewellery collection. They are crafted from gold‑tone metal (plated) with a faux pearl inlay. They are not solid gold or genuine mother‑of‑pearl. Vintage Chanel faux pearls are famous for their glowing lustre but are made from coated glass or resin, so they require careful handling to maintain their finish.

Q: What are the measurements and how do they sit?
A: They measure approximately 2.5 cm (height) x 2.5 cm (width). As a classic button‑style clip‑on, they cover the earlobe nicely with a distinct vintage presence without being overly heavy.

Q: How do they fasten?
A: They feature the classic Chanel clip‑on mechanism (often a paddle back) suitable for non‑pierced ears. The clips are designed to be secure; if you find them tight, you can add a small rubber comfort pad (not included) to cushion the lobe.

Q: What hallmarks should I expect on 1992 Chanel earrings?
A: For the 1986–1994 era (Victoire de Castellane period), Chanel used an oval signature plaque. For the Spring/Summer 1992 collection, you should typically see the CHANEL signature, the CC logo, “Made in France,” and often a season code (such as 2 followed by a number like 8 or 9) stamped on the back. Please check our close‑up photos to view the specific stamps on this pair.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Vintage costume jewellery often uses base metal alloys that may contain nickel. If you have metal sensitivities, we recommend testing them for short periods or using a barrier product on the back of the clip. Discontinue wear if irritation occurs.

Q: How should I care for vintage faux pearls?
A: Vintage Chanel faux pearls are delicate. It is crucial to keep them away from perfume, hairspray, water, and lotions, as alcohol and moisture can cause the pearly coating to peel. Wipe them gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing and store them separately in a pouch or box to prevent scratches.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return them?
A: These earrings are in Good Condition, which typically implies visible signs of vintage wear, such as light surface scratches or minor wear to the plating or pearl coating, consistent with their age. No accessories are included. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for details and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
