Q: Will these work for non‑pierced ears?
A: Yes. They are clip-on earrings that fasten securely to the earlobe without the need for piercings. For extra comfort, add soft clip cushions or pads.

Q: How can I make clip-on earrings more comfortable and secure?
A: Identify the clip type first. For hinge clips, gently adjust the hinge tension; for screw-back clips, turn the screw to fine-tune pressure. Add silicone pads to cushion the lobe and reduce slipping, and build up wear time in short intervals if you are new to clip-ons.

Q: What are the dimensions and how do they feel on the ear?
A: Each earring measures approximately 2 × 2 cm. The front is resin with silver-toned metal clips. Resin jewellery is typically lightweight, which helps with day-to-evening wear.

Q: Are these hypoallergenic?
A: Vintage costume jewellery is not guaranteed to be hypoallergenic and the metal clip components may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, use barrier pads on the clips and avoid prolonged wear. Modern EU rules limit nickel release in jewellery, but older pieces may predate such testing.

Q: How should I clean and care for resin earrings?
A: Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid soaking. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents such as acetone, alcohol or ammonia, and keep away from perfume, hairspray and sunscreen. Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, and separately from other pieces to prevent scratches.

Q: Will the iridescent colour change over time?
A: Plastics and resins can gradually yellow or fade with prolonged UV exposure and heat. Minimise direct sunlight, avoid high temperatures, and store in a dark, breathable pouch or box when not in use.

Q: Can clip-on earrings be converted for pierced ears?
A: Many jewellers can add posts to clip-on earrings, but conversion permanently alters the piece. If collectability matters to you, seek advice from a specialist before modifying vintage Chanel jewellery.

Q: How can I identify the era of vintage Chanel earrings?
A: Look for the signature plaque on the back. Chanel used different plaques over time (round or oval cartouches), and later included seasonal codes and country marks. Dating is best done by considering the plaque style alongside construction and materials.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included with this piece is listed under the product information section on this page. If an item such as a box or dust bag is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: How does A Retro Tale verify authenticity?
A: Each item is examined by our in-house team using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, signatures and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell and can share additional product information on request.
