Q: What is Gripoix glass, and why is it special?
A: Gripoix refers to a hand-finished glass technique long associated with Chanel’s vintage costume jewellery. It is prized for its rich, jewel-like look and artisanal character, which is one reason Gripoix pieces are so sought after by collectors.

Q: How long is this necklace, and where will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace has an approximate perimeter of 85 cm, so it is designed to wear as a long necklace. On most wearers it will fall below the collarbone for an elegant, elongated look, though the exact drop will vary slightly from person to person.

Q: What are the key features of this piece?
A: This vintage Chanel necklace features a gold-tone chain, red and green Gripoix glass stones, and a spring ring closure. The overall look is colourful and decorative while still easy to style with both day and evening outfits.

Q: Can this necklace be worn layered or doubled?
A: It is primarily designed as a long necklace and layers beautifully with shorter chains or pendants. Depending on your neck size and preferred fit, some buyers may also experiment with a doubled look, but we recommend comparing the 85 cm measurement with a necklace you already own for the best idea of fit.

Q: What condition is this necklace in?
A: It is listed in Very Good Condition with light traces of use. The hardware remains shiny and shows light scratches consistent with careful vintage wear.

Q: What is included with the necklace?
A: Product information indicates that a box is included. If any additional item is not listed in the product information, it should not be assumed to be part of the purchase.

Q: How should I care for vintage Chanel costume jewellery with Gripoix glass?
A: Handle it gently and avoid contact with perfume, lotions, water, and harsh cleaning products. After wearing, wipe it carefully with a soft dry cloth and store it separately to help protect the finish and minimise scratches.

Q: Is vintage Chanel costume jewellery suitable for everyday wear?
A: As a general rule, vintage costume jewellery is best enjoyed with mindful wear rather than heavy daily use. Occasional careful wear will help preserve the gold-tone finish, glass details, and overall condition over time.

Q: How do you authenticate this necklace?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is authenticated before sale. Our team uses a rigorous review process focused on construction, materials, finish, and brand-specific details so you can shop vintage with confidence.
