Q: Is this Chanel Vintage Mademoiselle Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it solid gold?
A: Vintage Chanel fashion jewellery is typically crafted from gold‑tone plated base metal (often gold‑plated brass). It is not solid gold unless explicitly stated. Please review the close‑up photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm any specific composition details for this piece.

Q: What does the “Mademoiselle” medallion depict?
A: The charms feature the profile of Mademoiselle Chanel (Coco Chanel). Some vintage versions are reversible with the profile on one side and CHANEL lettering on the other; please check our photos to see the exact detailing on this necklace.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The chain perimeter is approximately 40 cm (about 15.7 in), typically sitting at the base of the neck/collarbone on most wearers. The medallion is listed at around 3.5 cm (H) x 3.5 cm (W) x 1 cm (D). If you’d like the precise drop or chain width, message us and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: How does it fasten?
A: It has a spring‑ring closure, a common fastening on vintage Chanel necklaces. Always ensure the clasp is fully closed before wear.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on vintage Chanel jewellery?
A: Many vintage pieces carry an oval or round plaque stamped CHANEL, often with “Made in France/Italy” and a season/date code. Placement and style vary by era; some pieces have the plaque wrapped around the chain. Refer to our photos for any stamps present on this necklace.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Fashion jewellery alloys vary. If you have sensitivities, consider avoiding prolonged direct skin contact, keep the area dry, and discontinue wear if irritation occurs. Wearing it over clothing or using a clear barrier product on contact points can help.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone plating?
A: Keep it dry and avoid contact with water, perfume, lotions, hairspray and hand sanitiser. Put jewellery on last and take it off first. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and store it separately in a pouch/box, away from humidity and direct sunlight. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners or chemical dips.

Q: Can the length be adjusted or the piece be repaired/replated?
A: A competent jeweller can usually add a short extender, adjust/replace a clasp, and perform gentle replating if ever desired. Note that modifications may affect originality and potential resale value. We don’t offer in‑house alterations but can recommend specialists on request.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible. This listing includes no accessories unless specifically shown or stated. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
