Q: Is this Christian Dior Vintage Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is it real gold?
A: Dior vintage fashion jewellery is typically crafted from gold‑tone plated base metal (often brass). This piece is described as yellow gold‑tone with a curb‑chain design and a branded clasp. It is not solid gold unless explicitly hallmarked as such. Composition can vary by era—contact us if you’d like us to confirm any specifics for this necklace.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace perimeter is approximately 46 cm, with an estimated chain width/depth of about 0.5 cm. Around 46 cm corresponds to the classic “princess” length, which typically sits just below the collarbone on most wearers. If you’d like the precise drop length or a photo on model for scale, please message us and we’ll provide it.

Q: How does it fasten?
A: It features a branded clasp closure, consistent with many vintage Dior chains. Please refer to the close‑up images for the exact clasp style, or contact us for confirmation.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on a vintage Dior necklace?
A: Many vintage Dior pieces carry signatures such as “Christian Dior” or “Chr. Dior,” sometimes with a © and a date. Some examples also include “Germany” or “Made in Germany,” indicating manufacture by Henkel & Grossé for Dior during certain decades. Stamp style and placement vary by era; our listing photos show any marks present on this piece.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Vintage fashion jewellery may contain nickel in the base alloy or plating. If you have metal sensitivities, wear it over clothing or use a clear barrier product on contact points. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and consult a clinician for advice on nickel allergy management.

Q: How should I care for the gold‑tone plating?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, lotions, hairspray, hand sanitiser and household cleaners. After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and lukewarm water sparingly, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive polishes, chemical dips or ultrasonic cleaners. Store it separately in a pouch/box to minimise friction and scratches.

Q: Will the plating show wear over time? Can I wear it in water?
A: All plated finishes can develop surface wear at high‑contact points with regular use. Moisture and chemicals accelerate this process, so avoid showering, swimming or exercising while wearing the necklace. Proper care and storage will help maintain its appearance for longer.

Q: Can it be adjusted, repaired or replated?
A: A jeweller can often add a short extender, adjust/replace a clasp, and perform light replating if needed. Any modification may affect originality and resale value—we’re happy to recommend reputable specialists on request.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition with light signs of careful wear possible unless noted otherwise. Accessories are not included unless specifically shown or listed—this item comes with no accessories. Returns are accepted under our standard policy—please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and ensure the item is returned in the same condition received.
