Q: What typically fits inside this Chanel Chevron Top Handle Bag?
A: With measurements of approximately 27 × 15 × 7 cm, it comfortably holds everyday essentials such as a smartphone (best placed horizontally), a small wallet or cardholder, keys, lipstick, and a compact. Slim sunglasses without a hard case can fit; bulkier items may limit space. Please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact dimensions.

Q: Does this style come with a shoulder strap?
A: This vintage model is designed for handheld carry via a single top handle. It does not include a shoulder strap or strap loops. The handle drop is approximately 8 cm, ideal for hand or crook‑of‑arm carry.

Q: How can I date this piece from the serial number?
A: The interior 7‑digit serial beginning with “1” indicates production between 1989 and 1991. During this era, Chanel used serial stickers and matching authenticity cards to help identify the period of manufacture. This item includes its authenticity card and serial sticker, as noted in the product information.

Q: Is the gold‑tone hardware real gold?
A: Chanel used 24k gold‑plated hardware on most handbags produced prior to late 2008. Given this bag dates to 1989–1991, its original gold‑tone hardware would have been 24k gold‑plated. Please note the current condition shows light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use.

Q: What is chevron quilting, and how does it differ from classic diamond quilting?
A: Chevron quilting forms clean, directional V‑shaped lines that draw the eye towards the CC lock, giving a slightly more contemporary look than classic diamond quilting while retaining Chanel’s signature padded texture.

Q: What are the internal and external features of this bag?
A: It secures with a CC turn‑lock closure and offers a red leather lining with one internal zipped pocket. There is also one external slip pocket for quick‑access items. Please see the photos for layout and details.

Q: Will a large smartphone fit upright?
A: Due to the 15 cm height, most larger smartphones fit best when placed horizontally. If you use a thick case, we recommend comparing your device measurements to the interior space for a comfortable fit.

Q: How should I care for vintage smooth, quilted leather?
A: Wipe gently with a soft, slightly damp, lint‑free cloth; avoid oils, alcohol, and harsh cleaners. Keep away from prolonged sunlight and moisture, and minimise contact with denim or dark fabrics to prevent colour transfer. Store loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to help maintain shape.

Q: Can light scratches on the hardware be polished?
A: Light micro‑scratches are normal for vintage pieces. Because vintage Chanel hardware was gold‑plated, aggressive polishing can thin the plating. If desired, consult a professional handbag care specialist for gentle touch‑ups.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: As listed in the product information, this piece comes with the box, dust bag, authenticity card, brand booklets and the interior serial number tag. Everything included is detailed on this page; if you need confirmation, please contact us.
