Q: How does the 38 cm length fit on the neck?
A: At 38 cm, this sits as a true choker at the base of the neck for most wearers. If your neck measures around 34–36 cm it will sit close but comfortable; near 38 cm it will feel snug. We recommend measuring your neck and allowing a little ease for comfort.

Q: Is the length adjustable?
A: The necklace fastens with a lobster clasp. Adjustment is limited to the existing chain links; an additional extender is not included unless stated. Please refer to the listed perimeter of 38 cm for the best indication of fit.

Q: Is this solid gold or gold plated?
A: This is Chanel fashion jewellery in a gold‑tone finish. Chanel costume pieces are typically crafted in plated metal with decorative elements; they are not solid precious metal like 18k gold from the fine jewellery line.

Q: Will the gold‑tone finish tarnish or change colour?
A: With proper care it stays bright, but plated finishes can dull if exposed to moisture, fragrance, lotions, or sweat. Apply perfumes and skincare before putting it on, avoid contact with water, and wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear. Store in its box away from heat and humidity.

Q: Can I wear it every day, in the shower, or while exercising?
A: For longevity, avoid showering, swimming, or working out while wearing it and remove it before sleeping. Water, humidity and chemicals accelerate wear on plated finishes and may affect the shine over time.

Q: I have sensitive skin or a nickel allergy—can I wear this?
A: Chanel does not advertise its fashion jewellery as nickel‑free and individual sensitivities vary. If you are prone to metal allergies, limit wear time, keep the area dry, and consider styling over a thin collar. Discontinue use and consult a dermatologist if irritation occurs.

Q: Is the miniature Flap Bag charm removable?
A: The miniature Flap Bag is designed as an integral charm of the necklace and is not intended to be detached for separate wear.

Q: What are the approximate dimensions of the charm?
A: The charm measures about 3.3 × 2.0 × 0.8 cm, offering a refined focal point without feeling oversized on the neck.

Q: What accessories are included with this item?
A: This piece comes with a box. All inclusions are listed under Accessories on this page; if an item is not listed there, it is not included.

Q: How do you authenticate this Chanel necklace?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is verified by our in‑house experts using multi‑point checks of materials, construction, signatures and stamps, and overall workmanship consistent with Chanel’s known hallmarks for its era. We are happy to share additional photos or details on request.

Q: Can Chanel repair or re‑plate fashion jewellery?
A: Maintenance options for fashion jewellery vary by region and piece. For current guidance, Chanel recommends contacting a boutique or booking an appointment; they can advise on available services for your specific item.
