Q: Are the pearls real on this Chanel Coco Mark necklace?
A: No. This vintage Chanel pendant features faux (imitation) pearls, which is typical for the House’s costume jewellery. They are designed to give a luminous look while remaining lightweight and easy to wear.

Q: What is the chain length and how will it sit on the neck?
A: The perimeter is 38 cm (about 15 inches), which usually sits as a short necklace or choker on most necks. Fit varies by person; please refer to the Measurements on this page for exact sizing.

Q: Is the metal solid gold?
A: It is gold‑tone plated metal, not solid gold. Chanel costume jewellery generally uses plated base metals for colour and finish. To preserve the plating, avoid moisture, perfume, and chemicals, and wipe with a soft cloth after wear.

Q: Can I wear it every day or get it wet?
A: It’s best to avoid water, steam, heavy perspiration and direct contact with cosmetics or fragrance. Apply perfume and skincare first, let them dry, then put on your jewellery. Remove before exercising, swimming or showering.

Q: How should I clean the faux pearls and plated finish?
A: After each wear, gently buff with a soft, dry, non‑abrasive cloth. If needed, spot‑clean only with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not soak, use ultrasonic cleaners, alcohol, acids, or abrasive polishes, as these can dull the pearl coating and plating.

Q: What does the hallmark look like and can I date the piece from it?
A: Chanel costume necklaces typically have a discreet signature plaque or engraving. From 1993 onwards, many pieces show a two‑digit year on one side of the CC and a season letter (P for spring, A for autumn) on the other; some earlier plaques (around 1990–1992) have no date. Stamp position and style vary by era. A Retro Tale authenticates every item through multi‑point checks of materials, construction and marks.

Q: Is the length adjustable?
A: This necklace closes with a spring ring clasp and is designed for a fixed length of 38 cm. If you prefer extra length, a separate short extender can be used; this is not included—please see the product information for what comes with the item.

Q: What is included with this listing?
A: The necklace itself is included. No extra items are listed; please review the product information section for the full contents.

Q: Will the plating or pearl finish wear over time?
A: With normal use, plated finishes and faux pearl coatings can show wear from skin oils, friction and humidity. To minimise this, rotate wear, avoid rubbing against hard surfaces, store individually, and keep away from heat and direct sunlight.

Q: How should I store it when not in use?
A: Store the necklace separately in a soft pouch or box, away from humidity and light. Fasten the clasp and lay the pendant flat to prevent tangling and micro‑scratches.
