Q: What typically fits inside this Guccissima Bamboo Tote Bag?
A: With approximate measurements of 35 × 35 × 10 cm, it comfortably holds A4 documents, a diary, a tablet, a small water bottle and daily essentials. Most 13-inch laptops fit; slimmer 14-inch models may also fit depending on the sleeve. For protection, we recommend using a padded laptop sleeve as the bag has an open top.

Q: Can I wear it on the shoulder?
A: Yes. The strap drop is approximately 27 cm, which generally allows comfortable shoulder carry for most, as well as handheld or crook-of-arm styling. Please compare the drop to your preferred fit.

Q: How secure is the open-top design for commuting?
A: This model is designed as an open shopper. For added security, place valuables in the internal pockets and use a zipped pouch or bag organiser. Avoid overfilling so the top edge can sit close to the body when carried.

Q: What exactly is Guccissima leather?
A: Guccissima is calf leather embossed with Gucci’s interlocking GG motif. It combines the look of the House’s signature pattern with the feel of supple leather, offering a durable, structured finish that develops a gentle patina with wear over time.

Q: How should I care for the Guccissima leather?
A: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after use. If needed, use a slightly damp cloth and allow to air-dry naturally. Avoid alcohol, acetone, baby wipes and harsh cleaners. Keep away from prolonged sunlight, heat and moisture. Store the bag loosely stuffed in a breathable dust bag to maintain its shape, and avoid pressing heavy objects against the embossed pattern.

Q: Any special care tips for the bamboo-detailed handles?
A: Keep bamboo away from extreme heat or humidity, and wipe it gently with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid contact with hand sanitisers, lotions and oils which can dull the finish. Do not apply leather conditioner to bamboo. When storing, support the handles (e.g., wrap with soft tissue) so they don’t pull on the leather loops, and consider handle covers to minimise darkening from hand oils.

Q: The description mentions a vintage smell. How can I reduce it safely?
A: Air the bag in a cool, dry room away from direct sunlight. Place unscented baking soda or activated charcoal in a separate sachet nearby (not directly on the leather) for 24–72 hours to absorb odours. Never spray perfume or harsh deodorisers onto the leather. If the smell persists, a professional handbag care specialist is recommended.

Q: How is authenticity verified? Do Gucci bags have serial numbers?
A: Every item at A Retro Tale is authenticated by specialists using multi-point checks of materials, stitching, hardware and stamps. Most modern Gucci bags feature a serial number stamped on the reverse of an interior leather tag; formats can vary by era and are just one of many indicators. If you’d like the code or additional photos confirmed for this piece, our team is happy to help.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: Everything included is listed under the product information section. For this specific piece, no additional items are included.

Q: How should I interpret the condition notes?
A: This bag is graded Good. The exterior leather shows visible wear with scuffing and some discolouration, especially at the corners. The interior shows light signs of use and a vintage smell. Hardware remains shiny with light scratches. Please review the photos for close-ups of these details.
