Q: What size is this Hermès Carré and what is it made from?
A: The Carré 45 measures approximately 45 × 45 cm and is crafted from silk twill with hand‑rolled edges. As the edges are hand‑finished, a slight variation in measurements is normal.

Q: What does ‘Les Cavaliers d’Or’ mean and who designed it?
A: It translates as ‘The Golden Riders’. The design was created by Vladimir Rybaltchenko (also known as Rybal) and first issued in 1975, celebrating ancient gold equestrian motifs.

Q: Is the Carré 45 the same as a pocket square or gavroche?
A: Yes. Hermès often refers to the 45 cm format as a gavroche, and it works perfectly as a pocket square or a compact neckerchief.

Q: How can I wear a 45 cm scarf day to day?
A: It’s a versatile size for a neck knot, hair ribbon or headband, wrist wrap, bag handle accent, or folded into a blazer pocket. You can also pair two 45s together to create larger looks.

Q: How should I clean and care for this silk scarf?
A: Hermès recommends professional dry cleaning and advises avoiding rain, which can damage printed silk. Keep it away from perfumes, oils and cosmetics, and store it flat or loosely rolled, out of direct sunlight.

Q: Can I hand‑wash a Hermès silk scarf at home?
A: While some collectors carefully hand‑wash, it is at your own discretion and not the brand’s recommendation. If you choose to, use cool water, a gentle silk detergent, do not wring, and press under a cloth on low heat once dry.

Q: How can I remove light creases safely?
A: Steam very lightly from a distance or use a cool iron on the reverse side with a clean pressing cloth, avoiding the hand‑rolled edges. If in doubt, ask a professional cleaner familiar with fine silk.
