Q: Is this Saint Laurent Flower Brooch authentic?
A: Yes. Every piece at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from—is it metal or fabric?
A: Saint Laurent flower brooches are produced in various materials. Many are plated base metal (gold‑tone or silver‑tone) sometimes accented with crystals, enamel or resin; others are textile rosettes crafted from satin, silk or organza with a metal pin back. Exact composition varies by release—please review the photos and contact us if you’d like us to confirm the specifics for this piece.

Q: How does it fasten and is it secure?
A: Most Saint Laurent brooches use a pin back with a rollover/safety clasp. Some fabric styles may also feature a simple pin or occasional clip. When correctly fastened to suitable fabric, they are secure. Avoid very delicate silks and open knits to prevent snags.

Q: What are the measurements and will it work on coats or knitwear?
A: Please refer to the Measurements section on this product page for height and width. Flower brooches are versatile for lapels, coats, blazers, berets and heavier knits. If you need precise petal span or pin length, message us and we’ll measure it for you.

Q: Will it damage fabrics or tilt when worn?
A: Pin through a slightly sturdier area (e.g., lapel, thicker knit or hat band) and catch a small amount of fabric on both entry and exit. For finer fabrics, place a small felt backing on the inside to distribute pressure and keep the brooch upright.

Q: Is the brooch signed and can you tell the era?
A: Many pieces are stamped “Saint Laurent Paris,” “YSL,” or earlier “Yves Saint Laurent,” sometimes with a country mark. Please check the close‑up photos for any signature on this item. Dating can often be inferred from markings and design; our team can share insights on request.

Q: How should I care for it (metal or fabric)?
A: Keep it dry and away from perfume, hairspray and lotions. For metal parts, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; avoid chemical dips and ultrasonic cleaners. For fabric flowers, store so the petals aren’t crushed; avoid water and spot‑clean gently if needed. A brief, low‑heat steam from a distance can help lift petals—do not soak.

Q: Is it nickel‑free and suitable for sensitive skin?
A: Vintage and fashion jewellery may contain nickel. If you have sensitivities, consider wearing it over clothing or applying a clear barrier product to contact points. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Q: Does it come with the original box or accessories?
A: Only accessories specifically listed or shown in the photos are included. If a Saint Laurent box or dust bag is pictured or mentioned, it will be provided; otherwise, we will package the brooch securely for delivery.

Q: What condition should I expect and can I return it?
A: Light pre‑owned wear—such as micro‑scratches, gentle patina, or slight fabric flattening—is normal unless stated otherwise. Please review the condition notes and high‑resolution photos. Returns are accepted; see our Returns page for eligibility and timeframes.
