Q: Are these authentic Christian Dior earrings?
A: Yes. Every piece at A Retro Tale is rigorously authenticated by our in‑house experts through multi‑point checks of materials, construction, stamps and signatures, and overall workmanship. We stand behind the authenticity of all items we sell and can share additional photos or details on request.

Q: What type of fastening do they have and who can wear them?
A: These are clip‑on earrings designed for non‑pierced ears. The hinge clip holds the lobe securely without a post. They have a dangling design with clear rhinestones and measure approximately 3.5 × 1.3 × 0.4 cm, offering elegant movement without being oversized.

Q: Will clip‑on earrings hurt, and how can I improve comfort?
A: Properly adjusted clip‑ons should feel secure, not painful. If they pinch, you can very gently ease the tension on the paddle/hinge, or tighten if they feel loose. Add soft silicone pads or cushions, and build up wear time gradually. If you’re unsure, ask a jeweller to adjust them so you don’t stress the mechanism.

Q: Can these clip‑ons be converted for pierced ears?
A: Many clip‑on styles can be professionally converted by a jeweller by fitting posts or lever backs. Conversion is often permanent and may alter originality and collector value, so consider keeping them as clip‑ons if you value vintage integrity. We recommend consulting a trusted jeweller for advice specific to this design.

Q: How should I clean and care for the rhinestones?
A: Avoid soaking or submerging rhinestone jewellery, especially foil‑backed stones. Instead, dry‑brush with a very soft brush to lift dust. For stubborn marks, lightly wipe with a barely damp cotton bud while holding the piece face‑down so moisture doesn’t seep behind the stones; dry thoroughly. Keep perfumes, hairspray and lotions away, and store the earrings separately to prevent abrasion.

Q: Are these solid silver?
A: No. They are silver‑tone costume jewellery with clear rhinestone embellishments. Unless specifically marked, vintage Dior earrings are typically plated base metal rather than solid sterling silver.

Q: Are they suitable for sensitive ears or nickel allergies?
A: As vintage costume jewellery may contain base‑metal alloys, we cannot guarantee they are nickel‑free. If you have sensitivities, consider using protective barriers such as clear jewellery‑shield lacquer or silicone pads and limit wear time. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and consult a professional for hypoallergenic options.

Q: Why do some vintage Dior earrings say Germany, and what era are these likely from?
A: From the mid‑20th century onward, much Dior costume jewellery was produced in Germany by Henkel & Grossé under licence, so signatures often include “Germany” and sometimes the year. Without a dated plaque on this pair, we describe them as vintage rather than assigning a specific year.

Q: What condition and inclusions should I expect?
A: These earrings are in very good vintage condition with light signs of wear consistent with age. Accessories are not included; the listing comprises the earrings only. If you’d like packing for gifting, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
