Q: What is the chain length and how will it sit when worn?
A: The chain measures approximately 60 centimetres (about 24 inches). On most people this falls around the upper chest, making it easy to wear solo or layered over light knits and tees. Fit will vary depending on build.

Q: Is this necklace solid gold?
A: No. It is crafted from gold‑toned metal. Chanel’s vintage costume jewellery is typically made from base metal with a gold‑coloured plating rather than solid precious metal, so this piece is not from Chanel’s fine jewellery line.

Q: Is the pendant reversible and how is it worn?
A: Yes. The Coco Mark pendant is reversible, so either side can face forward for two different looks. It hangs from a classic link chain and fastens securely with a spring ring closure.

Q: Can the length be adjusted?
A: The standard closure is at the end ring. If you prefer a shorter drop, a small chain extender or a clip‑on shortening clasp can be added by a jeweller without altering the original chain. We do not recommend clipping to small chain links, as this can stress the plating over time.

Q: What is included with this item?
A: As noted under product information, this necklace comes with its box. If an item isn’t listed there, it isn’t included—please ask if you would like us to confirm what’s inside the box.

Q: How should I care for gold‑toned/plated Chanel jewellery?
A: Avoid contact with water, perfumes, lotions and sweat; remove before bathing, exercising or swimming. After wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and store separately in a pouch or box to limit scratches. Avoid abrasive polishes and ultrasonic cleaners, which can strip plating.

Q: Is this suitable for daily wear?
A: With mindful care, yes. Please note that all plated finishes naturally show wear with frequent use—especially on high‑contact areas like the clasp and edges. Rotating wear and following the care guidance above will help preserve the finish.

Q: What markings should I expect on an authentic vintage Chanel necklace?
A: Most authentic pieces have a small signature plaque (often an oval cartouche) stamped CHANEL and Made in France, sometimes with season or collection codes. Stamps alone aren’t decisive—overall weight, construction and finishing should also be assessed. Every item at A Retro Tale is authenticated by our experts before listing.

Q: Is this piece unisex?
A: Absolutely. The iconic CC motif and 60 cm chain make this a versatile, gender‑neutral length that pairs well with a wide range of necklines and styles.

Q: Where was it made?
A: This piece is marked France, consistent with Chanel’s costume jewellery workshops, and aligns with the country of origin noted in the product information.
