Q: Is this Chanel Coco Mark Stars Rhinestone Necklace authentic?
A: Yes. Every item at A Retro Tale is rigorously vetted by our in‑house experts and sold with our authenticity commitment. Shop with confidence.

Q: What is it made from? Is the metal solid silver?
A: Chanel costume jewellery is typically crafted from plated base metal finished in a silver‑tone, with decorative elements such as glass rhinestones (often referred to as strass) and enamel. This piece features clear rhinestones on one side and glitter enamel on the reverse of the star and CC charms. It is not solid sterling silver unless explicitly stated.

Q: What are the measurements and how will it sit when worn?
A: The necklace perimeter is approximately 48 cm. The decorative drop is listed at about 8 cm (height) x 2 cm (width). At 48 cm, most wearers will find it sits around the collarbone/high décolletage, with the lariat‑style drop reading mid‑chest. If you’d like exact drop length on model or chain width, let us know and we’ll measure/photograph it for you.

Q: How does it fasten and is the clasp secure?
A: It closes with a lobster clasp. Always ensure the clasp is fully closed before wear; a jeweller can add a short extender or replace the clasp if ever needed. Avoid sleeping or vigorous activity while wearing to reduce stress on the clasp and chain.

Q: What hallmarks or stamps should I expect on vintage Chanel necklaces?
A: Many vintage Chanel pieces bear an oval or round plaque stamped CHANEL and often “Made in France/Italy”, with season/date codes on some eras. Placement and format vary by collection. Our close‑up photos show any stamps present on this necklace.

Q: Is it suitable for sensitive skin? Is it nickel‑free?
A: Fashion/costume jewellery alloys can contain nickel. Sensitivities differ, so if you’re prone to reactions, consider wearing it over clothing, keeping skin dry, or using a clear barrier product on contact points. Discontinue use if irritation occurs and contact us for guidance.

Q: Can I wear it in water, or near perfume and lotions?
A: We recommend keeping Chanel costume jewellery dry and away from moisture, perfume, hairspray, lotions and hand sanitiser. These can accelerate plating wear and dull rhinestones/enamel. Remove before showering, swimming, exercising or applying products.

Q: How should I clean and care for the rhinestones and enamel?
A: After wear, gently wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; use a dry cotton bud around stone settings and enamel edges. Do not soak; avoid ultrasonic cleaners, abrasive polishes and chemical dips. Store individually in a pouch/box, in a cool, dry place, away from humidity and direct sunlight to preserve sparkle and finish.

Q: Can it be resized, repaired or replated?
A: A competent jeweller can add an extender, adjust/replace the clasp and perform gentle replating if appropriate. Enamel touch‑ups may be possible via specialised workshops. Modifications can affect originality and resale value; if you’d like recommendations for reputable specialists, please ask. Chanel boutiques can advise on care, though services for costume jewellery vary by location.

Q: What condition should I expect, what is included, and can I return it?
A: This necklace is in Very Good Condition with light traces of use noted. Accessories are not included unless specifically shown or listed—this item comes with no accessories. Returns are accepted under our standard policy; please see our Returns page for eligibility, timeframes and conditions, and return the item in the same condition received.
